One of the more interesting features in the tapada is this basin atop a one storied pavilion. Now sadly emptied (the whole park seems kept in minimal maintenance mode) it is nonetheless intriguing in its configuration. You enter through the upper terrace, and a double gate allows you to climb a few steps and walk, with no fence or rail, around the water or simply circle around the perimeter. The terracotta balustrade returns at this lower level as an echo of the glass rotunda across the lawn.
