A rustic manor house in Arouca, dating from the 18th c. Note the wavy stone lintel above the door, which is done in a simple vertical board-on-board panel pattern. If you look closely you can see another Portuguese vernacular trait, a piece of metal foil at the bottom acting as a skirt to protect the wood, and painted in the same color.

The French door above also has another wavy motif as a lintel, and a very simple balustrade design which you can see all over Portugal.
