At this point in our excursions we have learned that “implied permission” is the way to go when photographing public interiors. The red tape and clearance levels you have to overcome to shoot even the simplest of things makes asking for authorization a complete waste of time.

So these were the images we could get of the main reading room in the UC Library – a far cry from the classical exterior, the interior Architecture still has symmetry and notions of hierarchy, but the lighting and furniture are all “modern classics”, inspired by Bauhaus and Nordic examples alike.
