Another previously elegant street, the Rua das Flores had many jewellers and in front of this particular one, there was one of the first stockbrokers in town. Left to slowly decay for many years, it is finally coming back to life but the pot of gold now seems to be in restaurants and gourmet shops. Not that there’s anything wrong with those – hopefully some of these interiors will survive, as well as the wonderful cast-iron storefronts. Note the curious ceiling design, seemingly acknowledging the store’s corner location.
