The chapel of the Prado do Repouso cemetery was built over the foundations of an earlier one, in a clean neoclassical style. Interestingly enough, both corners curve so slightly outwards. This is barely visible, but noticeable when seen from below against the straight line of the roof eaves. Perhaps it was bizarre perspective compensation, a leftover taste of Baroque composition, or just a way to break up the severe linearity of the façade.
Another great feature is the balanced asymmetry of elements within the rigid frame – door to the left, pulpit to the right. The windows, alas, are later and meaningless.
