This modernist mausoleum in Porto has a most striking characteristic: only upon close inspection does one find how to enter. The intricate stylized wheat stem-like metalwork decoration cleverly conceals a couple of pivot hinges on both sides and the middle meeting line of both door leaves.
Shamefully, the ugly plastic trash containers spread throughout this beautiful and old cemetery have a similar general shape and color, in a smaller size. So what was an exquisite creation in its day now looks a bit like an expensive joke, sort of like post-modernism at its peak and in good taste if that is possible. But taste this still has, and we captured it here both for its intricacy of detail and awkwardness of conception.
