THE BASTARD

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

“Estafermo” is the name of this figure in the Coach Museum in Lisbon.

The word is an old insult (which my grandfather used sometimes). The statue represents a moor and was used in an equestrian game.

Today and last night everyone dresses up as whatever “estafermo” they wish to be.

Happy Carnaval!
