A BRASILEIRA

Café a Brasileira do Chiado (1905), Lisboa.

This café in the downtown area is probably one of the most touristic places you can visit in Lisbon. Yet it retains glorious brass detailing inside and out, with few concessions to modern conveniences and the mandatory ugly signage. Beyond the friendly staff and delicious little pastries, its vertical brass rails on painted cast iron pilasters stand a silent guard.
